Yeah I know, but some people do use tools on a regular basis. I know one guy that checks his link pop everyday if not more than. Some people said that it can be bad but I dont think his site has suffered because of it. Do you know of any penalties because of it?

Well even I have not full proof that if it can get you penalized or not, but I have also heard it from lots of other experts.

But it will never hurt to be one the safer side and stay away from automated tools at all. Who knows what will happen.
