I don't understand why people want to rely on this Alexa thing. There are lots of other things you should focus about.

Go to alexa.com, and fill in your site's domain into one of the box on top of "Compare Sites" button.

I've use Alexa to see how some of my competitors are doing in their ranking and what types of links they have. I then research their links and see if I can utilize the link and create a link to my website.
